Why do we make this so hard when it’s so freakin easy

The same things you do to build muscle are pretty much the same things you do to lean out. All that stuff you’ve heard about eating a million calories and lifting trucks to “get big,” or doing a million reps and hours of daily cardio to “get cut,” is largely fitness mythology.
When building, you can do more work because you have the fuel reserves to grow—and you should. But heavy AF 8×8 and 4×12 is still the rule of the day—just with more exercises. Cardio once or twice a week on rest days is plenty.
On a lean-out cycle, you’ll do a few fewer exercises since you have less fuel, and maybe a fraction more cardio—just enough to burn off the fumes but not so much that it creates extra energy demand (translation: more food).
It’s so simple, it’s laughable. Why are there so many blogs overcomplicating this? Follow the calculation pictures, and you’ll get there.
